HB 80: Medicaid Reimbursement for Obstetric Services
2006 Budget Session
Sponsor: Joint Judiciary Interim Committee

HB 80 extended the enhanced reimbursement program that was authorized during the 2004 Wyoming special legislative session for obstetric services under the Wyoming Medical Assistance and Services Act (Medicaid). The bill authorized reimbursement of doctors performing obstetric services for Medicaid eligible patients at 90% of the statewide average for obstetric services, not to exceed 100% of the specific doctor's customary billed charges for the services.
HB 80 appropriated to the Wyoming Department of Health a total of $7.3 million, $3.5 million from the general fund and $3.8 million from federal funds, to pay for the physician reimbursements from July 2006 through June 2008.
Supporters of HB 80 felt the bill would help physicians continue to provide obstetric services throughout Wyoming.
Opponents thought the bill might not be cost-effective.
The House passed HB 80 unanimously. The Senate passed HB 80, 29-1. Senator Cale Case (R-S25, Lander) cast the only NO vote.
