SF 79: Workers' Compensation Fund
2005 General Session
Sponsor: Joint Labor, Health and Social Services Committee

SF 79 clarified language in existing statutes that describes requirements for the Wyoming Workers’ Compensation Fund to maintain adequate reserves and surpluses. The bill outlined requirements for the fund’s reserves to be monitored by a qualified actuary and for the results to be reported to the Joint Labor, Health and Social Services Interim Committee annually.
Supporters of SF 79 noted that these statutory clarifications were needed to ensure the long-term financial soundness of this state program.
Opponents thought current statutes were adequate.
SF 79 passed the Senate, 27-2 (1 excused), and passed the House unanimously. Senators Gerald Geis (R-S20, Worland) and Curt Meier (R-S3, LaGrange) cast the two NO votes.
