HB 42 amended longevity pay for state employees in the state compensation plan, increasing it from $30 to $40 per month for every five years of service.
Last year, the 2002 general government appropriations bill included longevity pay at the $40 per month level, but that appropriation will expire in June 2004. At that time, longevity pay will drop back to $30 per month.
By amending the state compensation plan, HB 42 would have made the $40 longevity pay permanent.
The bill passed the House, 48-11 with one conflict of interest (Rep. Mary Gilmore, D. H59).
The bill was referred to the Senate Appropriations Committee, where the Chair of the committee (Senator John Schiffer, R-S22, Kaycee) refused to schedule the bill for a hearing. The bill died without Senate debate or vote.
The vote listed below is the House Third Reading (final passage) vote.
A YES vote means the legislator supported raising longevity pay for state employees from $30 to $40 per month, for every five years of service.
A NO vote means the legislator did not support raising longevity pay for state employees.
