SF 55: Water Quality – Effluent Standards
2007 General Session

Sponsor: Sen. John Schiffer (R-S22, Kaycee); co-sponsors Reps. Rosie Berger (R-H51, Big Horn), Mike Madden (R-H40, Buffalo)

SF 55 would have expanded the authority of the administrator of the Water Quality Division of the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality to recommend rules related to standards of effluent water quality. The Administrator, after receiving public comment and after consultation with the Water Quality Advisory Board, recommends to the Director of the Department of Environmental Quality rules, regulations, and standards related to water quality.

Under SF 55, the Water Quality Division administrator would have been allowed to recommend the required use of best management practices and a maximum quantity of water that may be released in connection with a discharge.

The Senate Minerals Committee defeated SF 55, without a recorded vote.
