HB 19: Incest – Increase in Penalties
2007 General Session

Sponsor: Joint Judiciary Interim Committee

HB 19 increased the penalties for a felony conviction for incest. A conviction now will be punishable by imprisonment up to 15 years (compared to the previous maximum of 5 years), a fine up to $10,000 (compared to the previous maximum of $5,000), or both.

Both the House and the Senate unanimously passed HB 19. Representative Kathy Davison (R-H20, Kemmerer) and Senators John Barrasso (R-S27, Casper), Bob Peck (R-S26, Riverton) and Charles Townsend (R-S1, Osage) were excused from the final votes.
