Tax Policy Blueprint


Accurate valuation of mineral production is the cornerstone both of responsible stewardship of our non-renewable mineral wealth. The tax revenues based on this valuation fund essential state and local government program and all levels of education both now and in the future through the Permanent Wyoming Mineral Trust Fund. "Wyoming's Wealth for Wyoming's People - Part I" presents identified mineral valuation and collection problem areas, along with proposed solutions.

Wyoming's Wealth for Wyoming's People - Part 1

The Select Committee on Mineral Valuation and Taxation was created by the 2002 Legislature and was charged with recommending "fair, viable and simplified system of valuation and taxation for minerals." Part II explains the work of the Legislature's Select Committee on Mineral Taxation and Valuation, particularly relating to valuation of natural gas.

These issues remain unresolved and important policy questions for the 2002 elections and 2003 General Session of the Wyoming Legislature.
